Eat your heart out, Mr. Folarin. Nike turned to the only place that made sense as they plotted a full-blown retro for the Air Max Goadome, utilizing Wale heavily in the initial rollout and trades before handing down a friends and family edition curated exclusively for the DMV icon. Since finally handing the rapper his own collab, the Goadome has spread beyond our wildest imagination, garnering sneaker of the year consideration with Taller De Rafa’s takeover and capturing fashion-forward fare like the “Croc Pack.” Yet there are still tricks up the boot’s sleeve, as evidenced by official images of the Nike Air Max Foamdome.
Here shown in its original “Eggplant,” the Nike Air Max Foadome was a genuine trendsetter in its original 2000s release. While any sneakerhead can recognize the wave of “sneaker boots” that continue to this day (the Air Jordan 9 a current standard bearer, the Air Max 90 a historical one), it was this basketball-meets-lifestyle curiosity that really opened the playbook. With the Goadome proper finding a home in major East Coast cities like New York, Baltimore, and D.C., the Swoosh went strength-on-strength, fusing the boot’s popularity with the Foamposite craze that had been raging since Penny’s playing days.
Snap back to the modern day, and Nike has tacitly confirmed this bring-back already with a spotlight on the all-new Foamdome Low, starring in SNKRS Verified programming and a Paris Fashion Week showcase. If you were around for the original drop or simply want something a bit tankier than the Low cut, the Nike Air Max Foamdome “Eggplant” drops on November 5th, retailing for $265. We’ve got official images included just ahead; watch our Sneaker Release Dates page for more info as it arrives.
