Even as it’s carved out an equally iconic life as a skate shoe and spawned countless grail-level colorways in the process, it’s hard to argue that any blocking is more essential to the Nike Dunk Low than the “Be True.”
A two-tone scheme that injected campus style onto Peter Moore’s design, it established classics like the the “Kentucky” or “Syracuse,” pairs whose simplistic style made them bonafide resale darlings as the model’s second golden age began after the pandemic. Perhaps aiming to replicate those heights, Nike has now dropped two fresh spins on existing designs, as the “Michigan” and “UNLV” earn another look. Though obviously the color palettes differ between them, how they’re distinguished from their originals is the same: white heel patches and back overlays turn these into tri-tone titans, instead.
