The NBA and Nike are expanding their off-court partnership into a new avenue of merch: footwear. This week, the Air Force 1 has surfaced in a crisp white color scheme, bearing the league’s simple but iconic branding.
The relationship between the NBA and Nike has become one of the most influential partnerships in modern sports. When Nike took over as the league’s official on-court apparel provider in 2017, it introduced fresh uniform designs, performance upgrades, and a new approach to storytelling through team “Association,” “Icon,” and “City Edition” jerseys. The deal also amplified Nike’s impact through its roster of NBA superstars, from LeBron James to Kevin Durant, whose signature shoes shape basketball culture globally.
Next year, the two are extending their off-court relationship to include lifestyle sneakers with the league’s iconic branding. This week, a special pair of the Air Force 1 surfaced bearing NBA logos and a clean new color scheme. The sneaker is primarily dressed in a “Phantom” shade of white leather, adding black linings and heels to counter the tonal look. Slight hints of orange appear on the woven tongue labels, while an icy outsole with more NBA branding completes the look.
