New York has the Air Force 1, Los Angeles has Vans, and Detroit has the adidas Top Ten. Motor City made the 1979-born hoops shoe its own in the 80s and 90s, fueled by love from hustlers, fresh youths, and just about anyone with some bread. It’s a legacy adidas has proudly shown off through Detroit-centric releases in the modern era, including a SNIPES-exclusive “313 Day” style inspired by Tigers colors in 2019. With this year’s city-wide holiday in sight, SNIPES and adidas are returning to that same well with a brand new look.

This year’s adidas Top Ten “313 Day” leans understated with a jet black design inspired by muscle cars. Pebbled black leather makes up most of the upper, accompanied by silver detailing on the stripes and collar. License plate-inspired silver stamps reading “DET” land on the lateral heel, joined by metal eyelets and a silver key-shaped hangtag.

This is one of a few ongoing “city holiday” series adidas has in rotation at the moment, joined by annual celebrations for Atlanta and Milwaukee. And like those drops, the SNIPES-exclusive Top Ten will too see plenty of fanfare. SNIPES is hosting a car-meet-inspired nightlife event dubbed “From the Streets” on March 13th, headlined by Detroit rapper Skilla Baby. The adidas Top Ten “313 Day” ($120) drops at SNIPES retail locations in Detroit that same day. Those who purchase the shoes will receive VIP entry to the event, though it’s free to attend regardless.
