Travis Scott Brings The Reverse Swoosh To The Nike Mac Attack

Travis Scott and LeBron James were among the notable names under the Nike umbrella that suddenly took interest on the Nike Mac Attack in 2021. The King’s pair was sourced by Ben Kirschner from vintage collector Jon Migdallion, while Houston rapper picked up his pair for RIF LA after owner Jon brought them out during one of his visits.

The vintage Jon McEnroe tennis shoe that is extremely high on the wishlists of sneaker OGs and Nike enthusiasts alike, but sadly a Mac Attack re-issue had only been gently teased at throughout the years. The closest we’ve ever gotten? The Nike Manor, which arrived during an era of Nike Sportswear design when it was deep in its “dress sneaker” bag.

But with promises of an OG return as well as collaborations with the likes of Social Status, Mac Attack dreams are set to come true this year. And with this first look at Travis Scott’s personal pair, captured by photographer Alexander Tamargo (@altaimages) in Miami, we can already feel the hype train revving up its engines.

In a rather predictable move, Nike and Travis Scott have applied the reverse Swoosh logo to the Mac Attack upper. It’s considerably smaller and less imposing than that seen on his Air Jordan 1 collaborations, but jarring enough to get anyone’s attention. The rest of the shoe seems consistent to the first 1984 design, down to the grey/navy colorway. It’s not entirely confirmed if these are a one-off custom or indeed an upcoming release, but we want to make it astoundingly clear: Bring back the OG Mac Attack without any changes.

Stay tuned for updates as we learn more about Nike’s plans with the Mac Attack as it approaches its 40th anniversary in 2024.

In other Travis Scott footwear updates, keep in mind that an Air Jordan 7 collaboration is expected sometime this year.
