Could anyone have predicted the breakaway success of the Nike Mind 001? We’ll have to wait for the data scientists at StockX or Alias to release their findings on the totality of its aftermarket success, but on a more anectodal level, it feels as if no silhouette this side of Nigel Sylvester’s “Brick After Brick” has been as well covered; every colorway and new development sending outlets racing to the “new draft” button (yes, including us).

New palette swaps are newsworthy enough in that regard, but the first real material development has recently dawned on the neuroscience-inspired family, as Beaverton declared that Hiroshi Fujiwara’s daliance with Flyknit materiality would become an inline movement as well. Following the Nike Mind 002 Flyknit, the same branches onto the Mind 001 Slide. While being a slip-on, laceless option means there really is no “tongue” in a conventional sense, a patch of Flyknit approximates a similar effect running down the midline. The gradient/radiating color blocking that’s recently been defining traditional editions makes a return in black and blue, while the node network underfoot switches into flashy highlighter green.
