Nike has played with denim on their sneakers for years, and you’d think they have tried it all. Well, this year they are mashing up denim and patent leather for a new Air Force 1 release, coming soon.

Denim and the Air Force 1 have been partners in crime for decades, since the AF1 became a staple of street style in the ’80s. Denim has been around much, much longer than the iconic low-top sneaker, but the two have navigated fashion over the last forty-plus years together. Pairing your best jeans with a fresh pair of Forces is a timeless look, and Nike has gone so far as to cover the silhouette in the woven textile many times over the years. Now, they are taking a different approach, delivering the aesthetic of indigo-dyed fabric without actually using it. An early look at an upcoming pair of AF1s shows a “Patent Denim” build, constructing the shoe from glossy leather, and applying a blue jean texture underneath the shiny finish. Stitching comes in a dark orange to match your classic pair of Levi’s adding details like embroidered eyelets in the same color to complete the look.

Nike’s latest venture into denim-clad Air Force 1 has not been officially announced yet, but is expected to land soon in Summer 2026. The new look brings a combination of printed denim textures and that glossy patent leather finish to the AF1, completed with orange stitching details. Pairs will likely be available from both Nike and select retailers, pricing is currently unknown.
