Chanel is having quite a moment in the sneaker world in 2025. Earlier this year, Vans released a set of Old Skool styles inspired by the fashion house’s Souvenir Bag from their Spring 2015 collection. Now, Nike is following suit with the Air Force 1 Low “Boucle”.

Vans has had an incredible run in 2025 of sleeper hit sneaker releases, both from their collaborative partners and in-house special projects. The prime example of this is the “Souvenir” pack, which dressed the Old Skool silhouette in two colorways inspired by the “Graffiti” messenger bag by Chanel. The bag was a part of the brand’s Spring 2015 season, and was a fan-favorite among the fashion houses followers. Vans take on the bag transformed it into footwear, and has garnered several Sneaker of the Year nods along the way.

This month, Nike appears to have also been perusing old Chanel catalog for inspiration. Their Air Force 1 surfaced this week with a noticeably similar look to the Vans Old Skool drop, and the inspiration behind it was confirmed by legendary designer Frank Cooke over the weekend. Nike’s version is a little more simple, dressing the AF1 in a washed brown canvas textile, adding fewer details but producing the same effect. The look adds a beaded outline to the Swooshes in alternating pnik & yellow tones, as well as furry pink laces to complete the look.

NIKE AIR FORCE 1 “BOUCLE” RELEASE INFORMATION

The new special-edition colorway for Nike’s Air Force 1 Low is scheduled to release this month, with overseas retailers like Afew releasing their stock on December 12th. Nike will follow with their US release, on the SNKRS app on December 19th. The shoe’s muted brown look is inspired by the fan-favorite Chanel Souvenir bag, and will come with a price tag of $120.
