Nike introduced Flyknit technology in 2012, debuting the ultralight, woven textile during the Summer Olympics in London. The slim, sock-like sneakers were spotted on nearly every Nike-sponsored athlete at the games. Flyknit quickly made its way into the hands of the public, and we’ve been smitten with it ever since. The introduction of knit sneakers drove nearly every other footwear brand in the world to develop their own competing version, and sneakers haven’t been the same since.
Each year, Nike seems to revive the iconic Flyknit for a wave of new Summer releases, either rehashing some of our favorite models in a new material, or adapting FK in a new way. This year, another vintage runner is getting the knit treatment as we head closer to warmer weather. The LD-1000 has landed today in a duo of Flyknit-built styles. Originally released in the ’70s and shelved due to an inordinate amount of injuries caused, the LD has been back in rotation for the last two years. Today’s fresh styles come in simple coloring; a triple white pair or a black knit with white tongues.
