Aimé Leon Dore is teasing a new seasonal project with New Balance, just in time for the holidays. This release sees them returning to the 2001 991 runner, dressing the shoe in two Winter palettes of olive or brown, both equipped with a bold red accent.

Aimé Leon Dore and New Balance have built one of the most influential partnerships in modern footwear. Led by Teddy Santis, the collaboration blends New Balance’s performance heritage with ALD’s refined, New York–inspired aesthetic. Since debuting in 2019, their projects span models like the 550, 990 series, 860v2, and 1906R, and have emphasized premium materials, muted palettes, and cohesion with ALD’s seasonal apparel collections. Over the years, the partnership helped reintroduce classic silhouettes to a new generation, reshaping New Balance’s cultural relevance and design direction.

This week, the ALD team is teasing their next release with the Boston brand, which sees them returning to the 991 runner for the first time since 2022. Despite the model’s v2 iteration being a regular release from NB over the last two years, Aimé has yet to work with the model, seemingly preferring the predecessor. Two pairs are included in this release, the first of which was originally teased in a lookbook back in August before reappearing today in the background of the second model. The former features a white mesh base with dark brown suede overlays and bright red mid layers. The second style also features the red accent, but sandwiched in between a grey base layer and olive green outer panels.

The latest project from Aimé Leon Dore and New Balance does not have a release date yet, but is expected to release soon during the Winter 2025 window. This release brings two seasonal color schemes to the 991, styled in either olive green or dark brown with a striking red accent. Pairs will likely be available exclusively through ALD stores and online, and pricing is likely around the $220 range.
