Aimé Leon Dore broke into the sneaker world through their New Balance partnership, a fitting team-up that mixed ALD’s East Coast aesthetic with vintage sporting vibes. This Summer their relationship continues with a fresh sneaker, the retro Gator Run, coming soon.
The Gator Run from New Balance is originally a 1982 sneaker, now repurposed for the modern day. The silhouette was introduced as a multi-sport turf trainer, named for the spiky underfoot traction that provided enhanced traction on slipper faux grass surfaced. The retro release first landed on shelves earlier this year, and has quietly dropped in a range of colors, with limited support from New Balance’s expansive arsenal of collaborative partners. Enter Teddy Santis and Aimé Leon Dore. The Gator Run practically scream ALD, and the New York fashion brand is stepping up to the plate with their take on the slim sneaker for their next project with NB, coming this Summer. The cream white style seen here popped up over the weekend, but does not yet have a set release date. The look brings a knit mesh base to the model, paired with shaggy suede overlays along the toes, heels, and midfoot, while the N logos, eyestays, and collar panels come in smooth leather. The look is capped off with a black outsole and gold tongue branding.
AIME LEON DORE X NEW BALANCE GATOR RUN “CREAM” RELEASE INFORMATION
The next new sneaker in Aimé Leon Dore and New Balance’s partnership does not have a set release date yet, but is currently listed as ‘coming soon’ on the Boston brand’s website. The long term partnership releases new shoes every few months, and we are due for a Summer drop sometime soon. ALD typically releases several colorways at once, and we expect to see some more colorful pairs to go with the simple cream white look seen here.
