The Air Jordan 3 is Getting a Utility Upgrade in Spring 2027

The Air Jordan 3 is getting an interesting new variant next year, bringing a Utility approach to the iconic basketball shoe. The 3 has largely remained untouched since its release in 1988, and this durable new upgrade will land on shelves next Spring.

Air Jordan sneakers have been around for over four decades now, giving Nike and the Jumpman plenty of time to tinker with and alter some of their iconic designs. We’ve seen plenty of modified pairs, usually using the Air Jordan 1 for a base in cases like the cargo pocket Utility style and the more accessible FlyEase version. Jordan has also introduced plenty of takedown models for some of their classics over the years, with styles like the Jordan 4 RM paring down the shoe’s construction while maintaining some of the classic look. Next year, the Air Jordan 3 is getting a new rework, it’s first since the Tinker which brought a Swoosh to the model’s side walls.

The new style of the Air Jordan 3 will be a Utility version of the basketball shoe, likely upgrading the silhouette’s durability and materials to stand up to inclement weather and harsher conditions. Information regarding the new Utility style is scarce, but this leak comes from a well-known source, zSneakerHeadz, responsible for giving us most of our early looks at Jordan sneakers for the past few years, and almost always accurate to the shoe’s color blocking. Pictured here in a mockup, the AJ3 utility appears to add a rope loop over the heel of the shoe for easier entry into the shoe, and possibly a toggle lace lock on the tongues for quick adjustments. The model will debut in this black color scheme, sporting reflective elephant print panels and Fire Red accents for the lacing.

AIR JORDAN 3 UTILITY RELEASE INFORMATION

The new Utility variant of the Air Jordan 3 is expected to arrive sometime in Spring 2027, and has not been officially seen or announced yet. Details regarding changes to the shoe’s design or construction are scarce, though these mockups from zSneakerHeadz are usually pretty accurate, and we can expect the color blocking seen here with the addition of a rope pull tab arched over the heels. Pairs will be available through both Nike and select retailers, pricing is still TBA.
