Denim Tears is teaming up with adidas for the first time. The label’s debut collection with the Three Stripes is expected to arrive during Winter 2026. At least two sneakers are already lined up, the adidas Superstar and the adidas Stan Smith, both reportedly landing in November. Tremaine Emory’s label has built its identity around bold historical storytelling, and this marks its first outing with adidas.
Emory launched Denim Tears in 2019, using clothing to explore Black American history and the African Diaspora. The label’s Cotton Wreath graphic has become one of streetwear’s most recognized motifs, and its cultural reach now extends to institutions like the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute and the SCAD Museum of Art. Denim Tears has also collaborated with Levi’s, Stüssy, Our Legacy, and Corteiz. Before founding the label, Emory helped start the creative collective No Vacancy Inn and later became Supreme’s first ever creative director, a role he held for about a year and a half before exiting over what he described as systemic racism and a lack of transparency at the company.

Footwear isn’t new territory for the label. Denim Tears previously put its stamp on the Converse Chuck 70, drawing from Marcus Garvey’s teachings and Pan African colors for a release that came out in 2020. Emory also joined the ASICS Collective, a creative group formed by Awake NY’s Angelo Baque, and used that platform to launch a two part ASICS GEL MC Plus collaboration in 2021. adidas has kept its own collaboration calendar busy too, recently pairing with Kith on a “Denim” Samba and a “Denim” Supernova Indoor.
