The adidas BW Army is a coveted silhouette among collectors, thanks to its unique history as military footwear. This week, the Three Stripes has quietly released two new patent leather styles of the retro model, in Core Black and Teal colorways.
In 2024, adidas revived their BW Army trainer through a collaboration with Hartcopy. The slim silhouette originated in the 1970s, when the Three Stripes produced the model specifically for theWest German Army. Beloved by the soldiers who wore it, excess pairs were sold off to the public after the fall of the Berlin Wall, and the BW Army became a special piece of adidas’ history. In Spring 2025, the brand issued their first in-line pairs of the Army retro, and have quietly kept the model in stock over the past year, offering a much more approachable (cheaper) version than the Replica version made by Margiela, who simply copied adidas with a higher price point. This week, adidas is offering two new styles of the BW Army with some patent leather flare, dressing the shoes in either triple black or a smooth teal style.
ADIDAS BW ARMY “PATENT” PACK RELEASE INFORMATION
adidas added their latest styles of the BW Army retro trainer to their website this morning, February 20th, 2026. There are two new additions this week, which join to make up a “Patent” leather pack. One pair comes entirely in Core Black, while its partner is dressed in a dark Teal shade with a Carbon midsole. Both pairs come with white laces and white leather inner linings, and are available now for $120.
