adidas is returning to their iconic Boost technology for more innovation this season. The Three Stripes has unveiled their next ultralight super-trainer, the Hyperboost Edge, making it debut early next week.
adidas struck gold back in 2015 with the introduction of their Boost technology. Created in partnership with BASF, a German chemistry research group, the tech consisted of thousands of tiny beads compressed into a midsole shape to provide unprecedented energy return in a lightweight, bouncy package. Boost quickly became a staple of their performance and lifestyle offerings thanks to none other than Ye, and now, the same technology can be spotted in sneakers from a wide assortment of brands.
This week, adidas has announced their next innovation featuring the Boost bead tech, dubbed Hyperboost Edge. The new silhouette is a pure performance running model, and features a ‘plateless’ design, meaning no stiffening elements like carbon fiber plates are embedded in the sole. This makes the Hyperboost incredibly light for a super-trainer, coming in at just 255 grams for a men’s size 8.5. The midsole is thick to pack in as much cushioning as possible, while the outsole adds another new technology called LIGHTTRAXION, a highly durable yet lightweight rubber. The upper is constructed from their new Primeweave material, another hyper-light innovation, shaving grams while maintaining strength.
