Nike Basketball’s latest performance model is here, blending street style with Nike innovation in the GT Future. After helping the Swoosh roll out the new silhouette all year, rapper Wale will be releasing his own pair of the model in “Photo Blue” this week.

The rollout of Nike’s next great basketball shoe has been one of the sneaker highlights of the year. The process began back in February, when the model was first unveiled at the NBA All-Star Weekend. The Swoosh distributed pairs to star players, high school prospects, and influencers around the Bay Area, taking over the news cycle of the weekend. Over the next few months, new colors would pop up here and there, with most shared by the legendary designer Frank Cooke. Finally, over the Summer, the first pairs were released at their NY vs. NY street tournament, before finally releasing to the general public at the tipoff of the new NBA season.

Throughout that rollout process, rapper Wale has been at the center, attending events and debuting new styles of the molded silhouette. He teased a small assortment of colors over the years, and now has his very own pair releasing, albeit exclusively in his hometown, the DMV area. Wale’s pair was initially spotted on his feet, before being revealed as an exclusive release this week. The look casts the upper in a “Photo Blue” gradient color, fading from lighter shades at the top to darker blue hues around the sole. Hints of 3M accents are added throughout the shoe, and each pair will come with a special branded keychain.

WALE X NIKE GT FUTURE “PHOTO BLUE” RELEASE INFORMATION

Wale’s special-edition pair of the Nike GT Future is scheduled to drop this week, exclusively through a FootLocker in-store release in Hillcrest Heights, Maryland. The DMV native himself will be on location to help launch the exclusive “Photo Blue” colorway of the new performance basketball sneaker. Pairs will likely be limited, and cost $200.
