Aussie sneaker & fashion destination Up There has been nailing their sneaker collaborations for the last few years. This week, the retailer announced their latest work with New Balance, bringing their own style to the Made in England 991v2 next week.
Australia has been bringing heater after heater to the sneaker world in recent years. Stores and brands down under have seen a huge uptick in collaboration opportunities, largely through Asics and New Balance. The premier name in such drops has been Up There, the Melbourne-based sneaker & fashion retailer. Their projects with Asics and New Balance have felt non-stop for the last three years, with fresh releases every few months. This week, the store hosted an unusual release for their upcoming NB project, giving an address for a remote location in rural Victoria, and selling the new release, sight unseen, to any fans willing to make the multi-hour drive away from the city.
After that blind release over the weekend, Up There has not formally unveiled their take on the New Balance 991v2. The global release has been set for next week, and it might be some of their best work yet. This is their first release from New Balance’s Made in England program, and brings a wealth of fun details to the v2 model. The look features a performance mesh base in black, with full grain leather overlays across the toes, heels, and mudguards. The saddle features a carbon fiber pattern, a nod to bygone greats like Colette, Crooked Tongues, and Snea-Q. The +61 embroidered on the heels is an ode to Australia’s country code, while upside down Made in England branding represents the store’s own logo.
