No longer can you write off the “sneaker loafer” as a “here today, gone tomorrow” trend. Beyond that, it feels like the shock value that hybrid propositions from the biggest brands once commanded has dissipated; it takes far more to really excite the palate now that we’ve become accustomed to silhouettes like the New Balance 204L or the HOKA Speed Loafer.
In kind, sneaker brands have continued to push the needle, crossing over the boundary and issuing designs that arguably read more as classic shoes than any type of sportswear (adidas’ bowling shoe efforts, Nike’s Shox Z Calistra).
But if you’re not joining these giants on the cutting edge, there are still some more restrained takes available to you. Nike has just stamped another with the two Astrograbber colorways featured here, taking a shoe partially reintroduced to meet their rival’s Samba in the slim-sole battlegrounds, now featuring full glossy leather uppers to match. And of course, they meet the men’s fashion truisms we’re all familiar with, issuing a brown and a black befitting any “track at 5, dinner at 8” situation you may find yourself in.
The Nike Astrograbber Leather should be coming to Nike.com as part of the ongoing Summer 2026 slate, retailing for $135 a piece once they do.
