The Nike Air Pegasus 89 Is Back as a Golf Shoe

As the new year approaches, Nike inevitably begins planning which of its archive shoes to repurpose for the golf course. Last year it was the Air Max 1 G and the Air Jordan 6 Low G, and this time around it appears we'll be getting a steady diet of Nike's retro runner Air Pegasus 89 – albeit with a few updates for the links.Similar to the Air Max 1, the conversion of the Air Pegasus 89 into a golf sneaker retains a majority of the silhouette's design features. These include its signature suede overlays, hidden Air unit and waffle-like outsole. Color wise, a grey and black iteration reuses the past "Dark Ash" theme, a white/black/coral colorway recalls the 89 "Swan," and two other neutral pairs are treated to white and black.The differences lie in the base material for the upper, which appears to be a more water resistant leather or synthetic leather rather than the typical soft fabric. The other detail to note is the revised traction pattern which is considerably more aggressive than the runner outsole.
