Jordan Brand still has plenty of un-retroed heat hidden among their archives, and they are slowly chipping away at rereleasing every great colorway from over the decades. Next Summer, the Air Jordan 16 “Ginger” will get its first ever rerelease.
Michael Jordan’s shoe line has extended well beyond his playing career, now with more shoes he never played in than models he did wear on-court. However, fans and collectors cite the models he actually wore in games as the best of the best, with the 1-12 making up the bulk of Jordan Brand’s retro releases. After his second stint in retirement, Jordan returned to the NBA to play with the Washington Wizards, donning Jordans 16-18 in the few seasons he played there. The AJ16 has been on a bit of a comeback tour recently, which started out with an ode to the silhouette via the Jordan 40. The model surfaced in the leaked “Black Pack” next, followed by a Free the Youth collaboration on the way soon. This week, news of an OG colorway retro has arrived, courtesy of a stable of sneaker leakers including zSneakerHeadz, Sneakermarket.Ro, and brandon1an. The pair in question is the 2001 “Ginger” colorway, a style worn by Mike during his Wizards days. The look comes in a warm golden suede across the shroud and toe areas, balancing the bright color with black accents. Under the shroud the shoe hides a white mesh construction for a more color blocked look.
