The adidas ZX 8000 “Lucid Blue” Releases Summer 2026

adidas has kept the ZX line in the shadows in recent years, only rolling out the iconic franchise for special collaborative releases. However, the ZX 8000 has emerged in a fresh “Lucid Blue” color scheme this week, set to drop sometime in Summer 2026.

Introduced in 1984, adidas’ ZX franchise was created as a high-performance running system designed to support athletes across different distances and foot types. The line emphasized technical innovation, featuring elements like Torsion bars for stability, advanced EVA cushioning, and lightweight, breathable uppers. Throughout the late ’80s and early ’90s, ZX models became staples on the track and road before eventually transitioning into lifestyle footwear. adidas revived the franchise through two successful retro runs in the ’00s and ’10s, the latter of which culminated in the introduction of a brand new silhouette, the ZX 10000. Modern updates and collaborations have cemented ZX as a bridge between performance heritage and contemporary street culture within adidas Originals.

The last few appearances of ZX sneakers have been released entirely through collaborative products. Japan’s atmos has continued the G-SNK line with at least 1 new release each year, while other partners like Palace have had a shot in recent years. Later this year, Pokémon will even release a “Mewtwo” version of the ZX 8000. Before that drop, adidas has cooked up some new in-line styles of the 8K for this Summer. One of the new looks, seen here, comes in a largely grey & black build for the mesh and suede panels, adding colorful accents in Lucid shades of blue and pink to complete the look.

The new look pits the shoe mainly in grey tones with accents in Lucid Blue and bright Lucid Pink, and will be available from both adidas and select retailers.
