For any basketball fan, especially those raised in the nineties and aughts, there was no more notable touchstone than SLAM Magazine. So often acting as an accelerant to turn the hoops curious into an obsessive, the publication brought an unfiltered edge and cultural connection that bridged the gap between athletes and their fanbase. The publication has kept up their legacy and interest in footwear with a range of 30th anniversary colorways last year, but with the SLAM x Nike Basketball range, the public will get a crack at their creations.

Revealed on the cover of their SLAM Kicks issue #29, the SLAM x Nike Basketball series contains four shoes; the Sabrina 4, Ja 4, GT Cut 4, and Hyperflight. Each takes a different spin on trademark orange tonality, with the Sabrina 4 arguably the most abstract within that. Distressed graffiti patterns pace much of its real estate, with NY-approved teals imbued within, before proud orange trim sneaks in on the laces and branding notes. The Nike Ja 4 leans into Morant’s own mismatched proclivities, toggling between a subtle grey and a proud orange from right to left. The same graffiti motif defines icy traction underneath, while the alternating concept comes to a head with metallic Slam and Ja logos on the tongues.

Nike’s contemporary roster makes a final appearance via the GT Cut 4, perhaps the most reined-in when it comes top its palette. Stealthy black coloring takes up much of the shoe, but that street art print is plastered on the medial counter before speckled orange coats the rear midsole. To close out the offering, multiple time Jason Williams is represented via the retro Hyperflight. Glossy orange dominates the uppers, though reflective 3M dots the spaces outside to add extra depth to black/grey/blue anchoring.

Exactly how the media company and the brand will handle a release is currently unclear, but the SLAM Magazine x Nike Basketball collection is expected to release to the public. The Sabrina 4 clocks in at $135, the Ja 4 at $140, the Hyperflight at $170, and the GT Cut 4 at $210. Catch detailed images of all four included below.
