Following a 30th anniversary Pokémon x PUMA collaboration, Pokémon is keeping things moving with a huge project by the Big Cat’s German competitor in adidas. Official retailer images of three footwear styles have already surfaced, with more on the way.

The adidas Superstar, Pro Model, and XLG 2.0 are all represented, each taking on an elaborate design inspired by a specific Pokémon. The Superstar is arguably the best and most wearable of the bunch, drawing from Charizard with a scaly orange leather exterior and removable leather “wings.” Pikachu, far and away the most recognizable Pokémon, lends his likeness to the Pro Model, the high-top hoops shoe arriving with a yellow pony hair upper and large TPU character graphics on the sides. The adidas XLG 2.0, essentially a budget version of Pharrell’s viral adidas Jellyfish, rounds out the initial trio with a purple colorway inspired by Gengar.

All three looks come with elaborate co-branding, including custom insoles, character graphics on the tongue tags, and in the case of the Superstar and Pro Model, the respective Pokémon’s name along the stripes. Today’s news marks the first step in a larger rollout. An adidas ZX8000 inspired by Mewtwo leaked late last year, and it’s also been suggested that the ubiquitous adidas Samba will play a role.

Pokémon and adidas first teamed up back in 2020, making this latest link-up their second major project. Given the recent PUMA collab, expect a natural debate in the sneaker world over who did it better.

The Pokémon x adidas collection doesn’t have a concrete release date yet, but all pairs are expected Fall 2026 (meaning between July and September) via adidas and select retailers. Scroll through galleries of all three surfaced pairs below in the lead-up.
