Nike is calling back to the late aughts for a retro release this week, reviving the 2009 Zoom Streak 3 for a new run of lifestyle editions. The first two colors come in the OG palette, one regular, one reversed.
Super sleek shoes started as a trend in fashion a few years ago, and have finally reached the world of sneakers over the past 18 months. New Balance was one of the first to leap on the popular slim silhouettes with their 204L and Miu Miu collaborations, and Nike’s first foray was via the Moon Shoe, the very first Swoosh-branded sneaker ever, finally made available tot he public after decades in their vault. Now, Nike has prepared a sportier look for Summer with their first-ever retro of the Zoom Streak 3.
The Zoom Streak 3 originally released back in 2009, engineered for long distance running. Worn by marathon winners in Boston, NYC, and London, the lightweight, streamlined silhouette had its moment back in the day, and is now ready for a another through the lens of a lifestyle model. The last time we saw a Streak model hit shelves was in 2018, with Supreme’s flame-covered release of the Spectrum. The Streak 3 release is more subtle, retaining the shoe’s original white, black, and volt color scheme with swooping lines across its mesh upper. Nike has prepared a second style for the occasion, reversing the white & black blocking of the OG for a darker version of the classic look.
