Nike’s basketball archives are filled with a wide range of iconic sneakers, many of which were released in the 1990s. Next year, Nike is reportedly reissuing a fan-favorite silhouette from 1998, the Total Foamposite Max.

Nike’s Total Foamposite Max debuted in the late ’90s, during a period when the brand was pushing the limits of futuristic basketball design. Building on the groundbreaking Foamposite material first seen in models like the Foamposite One, the Total Foamposite Max blended a sculpted, molded upper with full-length visible Air cushioning for a bold, armored look. Worn by Tim Duncan early in his career, the shoe quickly gained a cult following thanks to its hefty silhouette and ahead-of-its-time construction. Though not as frequently retroed as other Nike icons (the last release was in 2011), it remains a standout example of the brand’s experimental performance era.
