Asics Celebrates 30 Years of Kayano With a ‘Pure Silver’ GEL Kayano Legacy

This year marks three decades of Asics’ Kayano series, and the Japanese brand has crafted a new silhouette for the occasion, dubbed the GEL Kayano Legacy, seen here in a ‘Pure Silver’ color scheme.

Asics’ GEL Kayano Trainer first launched in 1993, presented as a serious running shoe for high-mileage runners. Thirty years later, the franchise is on its thirtieth iteration, and remains one of the most popular performance silhouettes from the Japanese brand. In recent years, Asics has begun to revive past models from the series, reappointing them as SportStyle models for casual, everyday wear. This week, the brand announced a new entry in this category, the GEL Kayano Legacy, which celebrates the franchise’s heritage by adding materials and badges from the past to a Kayano 14 base. Dressed in a ‘Pure Silver’ colorway which nods to their frequent use of silver in the line, this pair adds accents in black to the tongues, laces, and outsoles.
