New Balance’s “Washed Burgundy” Style of the 475 is Coming Soon

New Balance’s 475 retro has been quietly releasing in a few new colors every season since Summer ’24. The ’80s runner is, for our money, one of the best NB retros on the market at the moment, and is adding a new “Washed Burgundy” style to its arsenal this season.

New Balance introduced the 475 in 1986 as a high-mileage running shoe. Originally built for serious runners, it featured a mesh upper layered with premium suede and leather, alongside a CR heel stabilizer and a lugged rubber outsole for traction. Its combination of PU and C-CAP in the midsole offered durable cushioning. Today, the 475 has been revived as a lifestyle model, leveraging its vintage aesthetic, refined materials, and versatile silhouette for modern appeal.

The first reissue of the 475 landed last year, and New Balance has kept the model relatively lowkey ever since. The shoe had collaborative releases with ALD, END., and Auralee, but only adds a couple of in-line styles each season. This week, new pairs for late 2025 have surfaced, starting to appear at select retailers with an NB release soon. The look seen here comes in a “Washed Burgundy” theme, which starts with a brown nylon base layer, adding the dark red tone to the suede overlays. Shades of light and dark blue are mixed in, with small yellow accents to complete the look.
