Nike’s Moon Shoe is sticking around for new releases this Fall. The historic model, the first shoe produced under the Nike name and Swoosh, will get an all-leather construction for it’s two new colorways, coming soon.

Nike’s Moon Shoe has been a part of their catalog since late 2025, when the first pairs landed in collaboration with Jacquemus. The silhouette had been stuck in their archives for decades, as only a few pairs were produced during the shoe’s original run in 1972 and most were given to Olympic athletes. The Moon model is hugely important to Nike’s history, being one of the first wearable instances of Bill Bowerman’s waffle soles, as well as the first sneaker to bear the Swoosh logo. Since it’s return last year, Nike has slowly rolled out new colors of the model, and is starting to bring new materials to the silhouette this season.

Releases of the Moon Shoe thus far have largely been in the model’s original construction. Nylon textile made up the base layer, with suede and leather accents for overlays and Swooshes. Our first hint at a change to the composition came in May when a “Baroque Brown” pair surfaced. Now, more all-leather designs have emerged for a Fall release this year. The first pair comes in a bold University Red color for most of the upper, save for jet black Swooshes on either side and a gum sole. The latter is a little more seasonal, casting the shoe in Flax brown with a white Swoosh to complete the look.

NIKE MOON SHOE LEATHER RELEASE INFORMATION

Nike’s new update for their Moon Shoe retro has not been announced yet, but these pairs are currently expected to release sometime in Fall 2026. The new all-leather edition will land in two colorways at launch, a striking University Red pair with black Swooshes, and a more subtle Flax brown style with ivory branding. Pairs will be available from both Nike and select retailers.
