It’s time to get tactical. As those in the Northeast continue digging themselves out from last week’s record-breaking winter storm, Nike has reached back into its winter boot archive with three colorways of the military-inspired Nike Special Field Boot (SFB), available now via the Nike website.
The Special Field Boot debuted in 2009 and became a jumping off point for several other militaristic spinoffs throughout the 2010s. Real and synthetic leather make up the forefoot, eyelets, and heel, while ballistic nylon hops on the tongue and high, ankle-hugging collar. Underfoot we have a foam midsole and rugged waffle-inspired outsole made from 004 Sticky Rubber. Metal eyelets, multiple loops on the spine, and military-inspired tongue branding cap off the notable exterior touches.
The Nike SFB isn’t touted under the Nike ACG umbrella, but it’s totally waterproof and more than capable of being your go-to winter boot. Do note, however, that this version is not AR 670-1 compliant, although Nike does have a history of making styles that are actually fit for service, like the Nike SFB B2.
The Nike SFB makes its return at a time rife with strong Nike boot retro runs, including the ACG Baltoro, Goadome, and even the Goadome Low.
