The Nike Doernbecher Freestyle 2027 collection releases in January 2027 for $120 to $200 via Nike SNKRS and select retailers. Nike confirmed the six designs and has not announced an exact release day.

Nike pairs six young patients of OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital with its employees each year to design a shoe. The six pairs first appeared at a charity auction in Portland on October 16.

Nike Doernbecher Freestyle 2027 Collection Design

Owen William Flint, 11, built the Air Max 1/97 around superheroes, baseball and dirt biking. It has a colorful brushed leather upper, his number 88 on the midsole, a spinning wheel dubrae, a biker keychain and mud splatter on the toe. Avery Wilson, 13, covered the Air Jordan 11 Low IE in original characters, including Greg, a British alien. The word “neurospicy” nods to her OCD, and a license plate pin reads 143 for her grandfather. Charlye Cosgrove, 15, gave the ACG Rufus pink camouflage that recalls her baby shoes, fuzzy green accents that mimic Pacific Northwest moss and a UV reactive upper with hidden graphics. A stitched tag carries the date June 11, 2025, which marks when she completed her bone cancer treatment. Royce Short, 12, gave the Air Force 1 Mid a belt buckle closure, rope laces and branding for the bucking bull company he wants to start. A large bass decorates the outsole, and the Western interior print doubles as a map of places he wants to visit. Aurora Loss, 9, dressed the Structure Plus in fluffy pink fur, cherry blossoms and an anime character, with a removable hair bow and a detachable charm bracelet. Kamoryn Marshall, 17, added goldfish graphics to the GT Future, a chrome Swoosh on the right shoe for his titanium hip and hidden stitching for his surgical scar. The outsole reads “If you see this, you’re too late.”

Do Doernbecher Freestyle Sales Benefit the Hospital?

Yes. All profits go to patient care, specialized treatment and medical research at Doernbecher Children’s Hospital. The program has raised more than $44 million since it began in 2004.
