New Balance’s Upcoming Warped Runner Brings Decades Old Design to the Modern Day

New Balance is preparing a whole new silhouette for release this year, bringing together some of their iconic panelling inspired by the 990 family with a brand new midsole to form the Warped Runner.

New Balance has been engineering footwear products for well over 100 years. Starting off with inserts for better arch support, in the 1960s they introduced their first running shoe, the Trackster. Since then, they’ve been pioneering new technologies and styles, leading the world of casual chic sneakers mostly through the 990 family of models. This week, we have our first look at a new model inspired by that product line, applying a minimal upper that retains their iconic look to a whole new midsole unit. Dubbed the Warped Runner, the new shoe features a mesh and suede upper, shedding most of their usual layering. The midsole features a sleek two-piece construction of foam or rubber, assumably providing a plush ride. Currently, very little is known about the new silhouette, though it appears to be geared towards lifestyle purposes though could easily act as a performance model.

NEW BALANCE WARPED RUNNER RELEASE INFORMATION

New Balance’s upcoming brand new silhouette, the Warped Runner, has not been announced for release, though we hope to see them launch sometime later this year. Featuring a mesh and suede upper with a smooth new midsole tooling, pairs will likely be available first in limited supply from NB before a wider release.
