The “Doom” Foams now have a worthy opponent. Months after reporting on that Holiday 2026 release, we’re learning that the Air Max half of Nike’s iconic “Fantastic Four” collection is returning during the Summer 2027 window.

Multiple sources report that the Air Max 90 “Mister Fantastic” and Air Max 95 “Human Torch,” both originally released in 2006 drawing inspiration from the “Fantastic Four” film a year prior, are coming back. These fall into the often-controversial “unofficial collaboration” genre of Nike releases alongside icons like the “Heineken” Dunks and many a cancelled pair (see the 7-Eleven Air Max 95). The Marvel connection, combined with the fact that neither shoe has ever seen a re-release, has only added to their aura and collectability over the years.

No images of the 2027 versions have surfaced yet, but we have no reason to believe the colorways or general material mix will be interrupted. The shape is another story. The Air Max 90 will take the narrower “Recraft” cut Nike debuted in 2020, while the Air Max 95 will sport big bubble tooling. It’s currently unknown whether the rest of the “Fantastic Four” collection, the Air Force 1 Low “Invisible Woman” and Dunk High “Thing,” will join the lineup at a later date.

The Nike Air Max “Fantastic Four” sneakers return Summer 2027, meaning sometime between next April and June. The Air Max 90 is priced at $155 and the Air Max 95 at $200. See detailed images of the original 2006 pairs below to refresh your memory.
