Zellerfeld built its name on manufacturing shoes only after they’re ordered, rather than running a traditional production line. The original Air Max 1000 and its 1000.2 follow up both moved through raffles and restocks, and the 1000.2 line kept rolling out fresh colorways, including a “Glacier Blue” pair earlier this year. Nike has described each new version as a kind of software update for the shoe, refining its geometry, performance and print efficiency with every release. Landing on Nike By You marks the biggest structural shift yet for the collab, since it hands shoppers real control over how the shoe looks rather than a fixed drop.

Nike’s product listing lays out two customization choices for the Air Max 1000.3: a base upper color and a separate color for the visible Air unit in the heel, picked from seven available shades. It’s not yet confirmed whether shoppers get any control over text, icons, or a Zellerfeld style foot scan for custom fit.
