New Balance Celebrates Lunar New Year With the WRPD RUNNER

New Balance’s recently introduced WRPD Runner is beginning to arrive in more regular releases. Today, we got a first look at their “Lunar New Year” pair, coming in February 2024.

Lunar New Year is coming up in February, and sneaker brands are starting to unveil their releases for the annual celebration. This week, we got our first look at New Balance pair of the WRPD Runner for the holiday, which is set to drop early next year. Remixing the silhouette with new materials, the look starts with a ribbed textile in black for the shoe’s underlay, adding smooth black nubuck for the wavy outer paneling. The ‘N’ logos are added via heat transfer, giving them the same ribbed texture as the underlying material, while a wide-gauge mesh tongue adds some flexibility. The chunky midsole comes in a lighter shade of black or dark grey, while mint green inner linings complete the look. The pair also comes with a special box, printed with a jade green finish.

New Balance’s upcoming special-edition pair of the WRPD Runner for Lunar New Year 2024 has not been announced for release, but will likely arrive sometime in early February. The deep black look will be available from both the brand’s website and select retailers, with an estimated price tag of $150.
