Jerry Lorenzo Confirms Fear of God & adidas Will Part Ways

Jerry Lorenzo has officially confirmed that his Fear of God partnership with adidas is coming to an end, wrapping up a run that lasted nearly five years. On Complex’s PLEASE EXPLAIN, Lorenzo revealed that his contract with adidas ends in December 2025, with both sides agreeing it’s time to move on. The collaboration gave us standouts like the Fear of God Athletics Basketball I, the Los Angeles Runner, and the ’86 Low, and Lorenzo says the whole experience taught his team a ton about building product on a massive scale.

Still, he admitted the fit wasn’t perfect. Fear of God likes to move slow and intentional, while adidas works on faster, performance-driven cycles. Over time, that creative mismatch made the long-term vision tough to maintain. However, this news comes just days after the unveiling of their third performance shoe, the Fear of God Athletics Basketball III, expected to drop in 2026. Lorenzo said his contract ends in two months, making it unclear if, or whens that last shoe will arrive. Additionally, the Basketball II.5 surfaced in the Fall, but news regarding the zippered model has been dry ever since.

The partnership was first announced way back in late 2020, but the rollout took a while. The debut products didn’t hit until 2023 because Lorenzo wanted to build a full performance category, Fear of God Athletics, instead of just pumping out lifestyle collabs. The end result looked great, but the pace of development was definitely slower than expected.

Lorenzo kept the tone positive, saying he’s proud of what they pulled off together and grateful for the experience. But now that the adidas chapter is closing, it sounds like Fear of God is ready for a fresh direction moving forward.
