New Balance rocketed to the front of sneaker culture a few years ago, and has remained in the conversation as a top brand on the backs of excellent new styles. That winning streak continues with the new 983 model, coming soon.
New Balance has one hundred and twenty years of experience in the world of footwear and comfort, and recently they have placed all of that knowledge into their lifestyle offerings. While their older running models have been plenty popular over the last few decades, the found a new level of fame in 2020 thanks to a series of well-executed collaborations with Aimé Leon Dore. Since then the brand has continued to dominate with the introduction of new silhouettes, fresh collaborators, and their signature timeless style.
2026 has been a busy year for New Balance, introducing a range of brand new styles in just the last six months. The 1890 has been the flagship so far, and signature models from Kith and Action Bronson are both drawing plenty of early praise. This week a new in-line silhouette has emerged, the 983, blending some of their modern chunky aesthetics with the retro mesh and synthetic aesthetic that made them so popular this decade. The 983 features a brand new midsole tooling, prominently displaying four pods of Abzorb cushioning along the lateral sidewalls. The rubber encasing these pods features swooping lines and organic shapes, matching the upper’s use of curved paneling and smooth edges. Three colors have appeared in early photos, a nold red and grey pair in mesh and patent leather, a matching blue pair also in patent leather, and an Earth-toned brown, grey, and cream style with some muted green accents.
NEW BALANCE 983 RELEASE INFORMATION
The next new sneaker model from New Balance does not have a set release date yet, and could arrive later in 2026 or early in 2027. The 983 model bears some resemblance to other recent lifestyle models like the 2010, but carves its own path with new midsole tooling and unique paneling across the upper. Pricing is currently unknown, but we expect this pair to fall somewhere in the range of $160.
