Back in June, New Balance teased an upcoming silhouette through a team member wearing the 1890 model at Paris Fashion Week. Now, a pair of the silhouette has surfaced bearing Action Bronson’s Baklava branding and a colorful palette, releasing in 2026.
With a new year approaching rapidly, we are starting to get early looks at what sneaker brands have in store for 2026. For Jordan and Nike, this is mostly new colorways of iconic models and proper retros of fan-favorites. For New Balance, this usually means brand new silhouettes. Each of the last five years, the Boston brand has introduced a fresh model to their lifestyle lineup, built upon their legacy of running shoes. For 2026, the brand has cooked up the 1890, a sleek new shape that already has two variants we’ve seen.
Our first look at the New Balance 1890 came back in June. NB marketing manager Lee Stuart showed up at PFW wearing a prototype of the shoe in a moccasin construction. However, that version appears to be an offshoot, as a first look at Action Bronson’s pair this week shows a drastically different silhouette. The Baklava version features a more classic construction for a New Balance shoe, with mesh underlays and leather or synthetic overlays. In fact, the only similarity between this pair and the moccasin pair appears to be the midsole.
This new look at the 1890 shows off a unique forefoot overlay, with several finger or tendril-like pieces extending from the mudguard up towards the tongue and eyestays. The signature N logo has a panel underneath emphasizing the shape of the letter, and the heel counters add more swooping cutout layers. As per usual with a Bronson release, the shoe features a colorful palette, with a cream white and grey base, and accents in yellow, blue, and green.
ACTION BRONSON X NEW BALANCE 1890 RELEASE INFORMATION
New Balance has not announced their upcoming silhouette, the 1890, aside from the tease of a moccasin pair back in June. The Action Bronson collaboration seen here will likely not release until sometime in mid-2026. The colorful look for the new model will likely be available exclusively through the Baklava site, potentially getting a wider release from NB.
