Last year, designer Danielle Cathari made waves with her debut New Balance collaboration, a “Matcha” style of the 991v2. This week, the partnership is back with a reverse release, flipping the color scheme of the OG for a gorgeous new style.

Daniëlle Cathari is an Amsterdam-based designer known for deconstructing classic silhouettes with streetwear finesse. Her label, founded in 2018, blends tailored essentials with unexpected twists; layered panels, bold prints and playful edits rooted in “complementing contrasts.” Cathari first garnered acclaim by winning the VFiles runway show in 2017, which led to her breakout collaboration with adidas Originals. Since then, she has partnered with brands like Woolrich, Clarks Originals and New Balance, each project reinterpreting heritage design through her distinctive lens.

Cathari gained popularity in the sneaker community last year, with her debut New Balance project. The release featured the then-new 991v2 silhouette, which came dressed in a bold green “Matcha” color theme. This week, the two have announced a follow-up to that original style, this time in a “Reverse” color blocking. The new pair sports a lime green mesh base later, with subtle grey structural mid layers. This is finished with dark brown suede overlays, and paired with cream accents for the laces and midsole.

The second collaboration from Danielle Cathari and New Balance has been scheduled to release this week. Kith is now accepting raffle entried via their app until October 30th, which will be followed by a limited release on their website and through Kith storefronts. The “Reverse” matcha colorway is a simple flip of their 2024 release, and will likely come with the 991v2’s usual $250 price tag.
