We’ll continue to give credit to New Balance for their experimental streak, a far cry from the perhaps staid reputation that they carried before this current renaissance. From specifically titled offshoots to a general willingness to give their staple models new life (the recent hiking New Balance 9060 comes to mind), no silhouette is spared in their mission to widen each one’s aesthetic possibilities. The New Balance 1890, still so adolescent overall, is gaining another new look: the New Balance 1890 Liquid Metal.
Official brand or designer confirmation hasn’t come down of that specific title, but it’s hard to look at this chromed-out colorway and the hardware tooling within and not think of the New Balance 2000 “Liquid Metal,” adding razor-sharp new overlays to the vis-tech model. In similar fashion, the toe box of this pair turns to pronounced, medieval panelling, while the “teardrop” geometry on the heel takes on similar diamond shapes. Overall, this “Liquid Metal” New Balance 1890 manifests as a natural evolution of the New Balance 1890P, introducing the hardened shells in the front, yet obviously takes a far more drawn-out aesthetic direction on top of it.
The New Balance 1890 “Liquid Metal” in this silver colorway is likely to hit retailers and NewBalance.com before the end of the year. A firm retail price hasn’t come to light just yet, but we’ll have the latest info hosted on this page and our Sneaker Release Dates hub once it comes about.
