Brazil’s GDLP Reworks The adidas Intimidation With Hairy Suede

For a moment it looked like the adidas Intimidation was poised to become the Three Stripes’ next big retro silo, the subject of an impressive, underrated collab with HAL Studios and a handful of strong general releases last year. Then as soon as it resurfaced, it vanished. But don’t call it a comeback. The “Feet You Wear” era hoops shoe is back in the spotlight (at least momentarily) with a rather dramatic hairy suede overhaul by the hands of Brazilian retailer Guadalupe (GDLP).

Taking the 1999-born silo off the court and deep into the genre of utilitarian, almost boot-like lifestyle wear for winter, GDLP does away with the traditional upper in favor of all-encompassing hairy suede. The co-branding is minimal, so minimal in fact that we had to do some digging to confirm the shoe is a collab in the first place. Gold adidas x GDLP branding appears on the insoles and lateral side of the heel, while the medial side shows a gold handshake graphic. Definitely one of the better “winter sneakers” we’ve seen from the Stripes so far this go-round. Well done.
