Basketcase has been on a roll with their New Balance releases since their debut collaboration landed last year. Now, BC & NB are jumping into the World Cup celebration with a pack of the Gator Run retro, releasing this week.

Los Angeles brand Basketcase Gallery started out as a simple t-shirt business, when its founder Zach Kinninger was taking orders via Insta DMs and printing through a local shop. In 2019 the label took a step in a new direction by printing on vintage Levi’s denim, and has continued to expand into sweatshirts and sweatpants, and their own cut & sew denim and outerwear. Their first New Balance project was more of a custom sneaker, taking pairs of a 1906A and adding their own twist to the model, released during Paris Fashion Week in a limited run. Their first formal collaboration with the Boston brand came in late 2025, and featured two neutral colors of the 204L model.

This week, Basketcase had unveiled their sophomore project with New Balance, a set of Gator Run sneakers with ties to the upcoming World Cup tournament this Summer. The campaign photos heavily feature soccer gear, though the sneaker itself is not technically a retro NB boot. Their two colorways of the Gator Run come in your choice of subte or loud tones. The more subtle pair mixes a grey underlay with dark red overlays, while the louder look features a yellow base with lush green suede. Both styles feature a set of woven laces, pins, and Basketcase branding across the heels.

BASKETCASE X NEW BALANCE GATOR RUN RELEASE INFORMATION

Los Angeles design studio Basketcase has scheduled their next New Balance collaboration to launch initially next week, on June 12th, 2026. This drop will be direct from BC, and New Balance will follow with a wider release a week later on June 19th. The project features two pairs of the retro Gator Run model, one pair in green & yellow and the other in grey & maroon. Pairs will come with extra laces, special packaging, and a $130 price tag.
