Japanese clothing brand WTAPS has been producing excellent, military-inspired goods since 1996. In that time they’ve built a rabid cult following, and produced some incredible collaborations. This week, we have a first look at their take on the New Balance 2010, coming soon.

Since 2020, Japanese streetwear label WTAPS and New Balance have built a tight, hype-fueled partnership that elevates understated silhouettes with premium details. Their collabs kicked off with the 992, then flowed into the 990v2, 990v6, and most recently the Made in USA 998. WTAPS leans into neutral tones—grey, olive, tan—with materials like suede, mesh, and pigskin; branding stays subtle, often swapping USA flags for their “Visual Uparmored” branding. These releases are limited, and typically only available through stores that stock wares from both partners.

WTAPS and New Balance are so close to releasing a new project each year. Since their initial team-up in 2020, they’ve only taken one year off in 2022, but the upcoming release has them right back on schedule. This time around, the Japanese label is issuing their version of the 2010, a brand new silhouette for 2025. The model blends New Balance’s iconic retro style with modern sensibilities, and WTAPS has lent their signature green shades for this release. The shoe’s base layers come in flat light grey tones, while the smooth nubuck outer panels are colored in a shade described as “Blue Green” on the packaging. Lime green accents appear in the heel’s Abzorb cushioning. Finally, WTVUA branding on the heels completes the look.

WTAPS X NEW BALANCE 2010 RELEASE INFORMATION

The next installment in the relationship between WTAPS and New Balance has not been announced yet, but is tentatively expected to release in October 2025. Featuring the new 2010 silhouette for their next outing, the shoe comes in a “Blue Green” shade mixed with flat grey secondary tones and a lime green accent. Pairs will likely be available only through retailers who stock both brands. Pricing for this pair is currently unknown.
