The Air Jordan line’s 40th anniversary year sees the reprisal of the “Rare Air” series birthed on the Jordan 4 back in 2006. The overarching idea behind “Rare Air” releases can be traced back to factory errors, particularly incorrect logo placements, which unintentionally created rare 1-of-1s back in the day.
Starting with the “Cinnabar” style for women, the sneaker stands out with Wings logos on the lateral and medial sides of the collar. The lateral side reads “Air Jordan” in “Cinnabar” red, while the medial view contains black “Nike Air” in a mold-breaking twist. Another factory “flaw” is provided by less than usual stitching across the “Sail” leather upper, giving the sneaker a bit of deconstructed, vintage touch. Blue tongue tags, doubled-up laces, and a suede Swoosh and collar round out the top half, while a “Sail” midsole and “Cinnabar” outsole complete the delivery underfoot.
The “Deep Royal Blue” colorway takes a different approach, drawing its primary appeal from a black Swoosh that fades to red with aging (or acetone, your choice). Titular “Deep Royal Blue” covers the toe, eyelets, and heel, complemented by white leather on the toe box, quarter, and collar overlay.
The Jordan 1 duo kicks off a slew of “Rare Air” releases landing in 2025, followed by likeminded takes on the Jordan 3, Jordan 4, and Jordan 11 in that order.
As mentioned, both “Rare Air” Jordan 1s release April 5th via Nike SNKRS and retailers. Scroll back up to our “Where To Buy” sections for store lists.
