Japan’s WTAPS has a new project with New Balance on the way this year, this time taking on the 990v6 as their canvas for a tonal grey edition of the Made in USA sneaker.

New Balance first teamed up with Japanese streetwear brand WTAPS in 2020, when they released an extremely limited run of the 992 as part of the silhouette’s revival. The shoes are still highly sought after to this day, going for nearly $1,000 through aftermarket channels. Then, in 2021, they released a tonal grey pair of the 990v2, and now, they are taking on the recent 990v6 Made in USA for another release. Images of the shoes have surfaced from a Taiwanese retailer, though no official information has been made available yet. This pair comes in shades of grey, which vary through its mesh and suede layering. The light grey heel counters nod to its Made in USA status with oversized USA branding.

WTAPS X NEW BALANCE 990V6 MADE IN USA RELEASE INFORMATION

The latest collaboration between WTAPS and New Balance has not been announced for release, though we hope to see them launch sometime before the end of 2023. Cast in shades of grey with bold USA branding, the subtle take will likely release in extremely limited numbers from select retailers of both WTAPS and NB. UPDATE 9/31/23: New Balance’s release of the WTAPS 990v6 is set for tomorrow morning, at 10am eastern time. Pairs will likely be very limited, and come with a price tag of $260 from the brand’s website.

UPDATE 8/19/23: After its first appearance online earlier this week, as now have a better look at the upcoming WTAPS x New Balance 990v6. Additionally, pairs are expected to release on September 1st, 2023, from both WTAPS and New Balance as well as select retailers with both accounts.
