Keeping sport at the heart of their efforts is the renewed purpose of Nike’s Elliot Hill era, something that’s influenced the new look of their basketball signatures and performance titans running rampant through the catalog, like the Pegasus Premium. Yet no doubt their partnerships with major sports leagues are part of that fabric as well. After delivering Air Max 90 colorways in the fall to align with the NFL’s “Rivalry” uniforms, the MLB’s “City Connect” series has been a constant drumbeat of Spring/Summer, especially the paired Air Max 1 looks to go with.
Both via initial reveals and staggered releases, the City Connect Air Max 1 has genuinely been a weekly installment on our frontpage, but the Texas Rangers revealing theirs, the final pair in the series, means the end is in sight. While some, like the San Diego Padres’, have turned the dial up to 11, the Arlington outfit leans rather restrained overall.
A clean two-tone palette coats the Tinker Hatfield icon, but the patterning in the spaces between is where the story really plays out. As seen on the “Tejas” spellout text, the Rangers’ alt unis are lit by the diversity across Texas. As such, charro patterns and papel picado motifs add both sentimental value and visual depth.
The Nike Air Max 1 “Texas Rangers” releases on June 17th via Dick’s Sporting Goods and Sneaker Politics. Drops via local retailers could also be in the works, a hallmark of some previous teams’ drops. Catch detailed studio shots below.
