The Nike Foamposite dazzled a generation on the feet of Penny Hardaway, but why limit the tank-like silhouette to just the hardwood?

While we’re still awaiting the long-anticipated return of the Foamposite as a street style icon, Nike has carved out new lanes for the model to find renewed cultural cachet. The Nike Vapor Posite family has done so by adapting some of the most essential colorways into gridiron-ready propositions, but the Nike Vapor X Posite has a different recreation in mind.

Having originally launched in the 2010s exclusively at outlet stores and never given a full red carpet treatment, we ultimately wouldn’t be surprised if the same low-key approach applies to this renewed effort. But the same reverence for Foamposite history proper applies to this market run. Following “Copper” and metallic orange editions, the “Eggplant” is only a suitable place to look next, here applied rather faithfully: royal purple coats the upper before translucent traction takes over underfoot.

The Nike Vapor X Posite “Eggplant” hasn’t tied down a firm release date just yet, but we can confirm a $170 retail price upon arrival.
