Nike is adding more speed to the Pegasus family with the arrival of the Pegasus Plus 2, the latest evolution of its faster-paced daily trainer. Joining the Pegasus 42 and the Pegasus Premium, this third addition completes a family of runners that few, if any, can compete with.
Built for runners looking to pick up the tempo without sacrificing the durability and consistency needed for regular mileage, the Pegasus Plus 2 combines two of Nike Running’s most recognizable cushioning technologies: ZoomX foam and Air Zoom.
The most immediately noticeable update is a curved, visible Air Zoom unit positioned within the midsole. Nike describes the setup as an “Air Zoom engine,” designed to ease the transition from one stride into the next and create a faster, smoother sensation underfoot.
That unit works alongside a full ZoomX foam midsole, providing the lightweight responsiveness and energy return associated with Nike’s fastest running footwear. The shoe also introduces a more accommodating forefoot and toe box while maintaining a secure fit through the upper.
For those in tune with what Nike Running has been cooking up, the Pegasus line maintains a more grounded foot-feel whereas the Vomero looks to stack foams as high as possible.
The Nike Pegasus Plus 2 releases September 3rd on Nike.com for $170, but expect an earlier rollout through select retail partners.
