Nike’s First Sight collection marks one of the brand’s more experimental swings in women’s sport design. Consisting of a trio of silhouettes that blur the lines between performance archetypes and fashion-forward disruption, the collection challenges traditional footwear codes while hitting on icons of the Swoosh’s past eras. While the First Sight Noir will lead the global launch on March 20, we now have a clear look at the Nike First Sight Shadow shared by the brand’s Frank Cooker.
Where Noir sits at the intersection of track spike and loafer and Mirage merges football boot with Oxford, Shadow pulls directly from early-2000s Nike Basketball design language. With a sculpted upper, the influence is unmistakably that of the Posite era, drawing from the groundbreaking Alpha Project that birthed some of the most memorable and game-changing shoes in Nike history.
Here, Nike adds a dimpled surface on the upper. Where the ankle bone just out, Nike adds elliptical nodules on the surface for even more of that futuristic, other-worldly aesthetic championed by the likes of the Foamposite, Flightposite series, and so on. Construction wise, the shoes do read as a Y2K-era basketball shoe as it features no laces; these are more of a slip-on and not completely in the Mule category.
As of this article, neither the First Sight Shadow nor the Mirage have a first release date, but we do know the First Sight Noir will debut via SNKRS and select retailers on March 20th.
