It’s time for the Nike Air Liquid Max to get weird. In truth, you can argue that the silhouette has been doing so since it first came to light around Air Max Day this year, a bold divergence from the chunky hallmarks of the product line by slimming down the Air units into a network of Dynamic Air pouches underfoot.

Yet recent editions have showcased a real penchant for experimentation on top of its cushioning hallmarks. First brought to light with a pocked upper that echoed the animal kingdom with explicit poison dart frog inspiration, we’ve since started to see a wavy formation take over the sneaker, perhaps a tacit callback to catalog peers like the Air Max 95.

Without official word from Nike, we can’t confirm or deny any potentiality in why this new build has taken over. We can, however, dissect the latest colorway, a combination of neutral “Light Bone” uppers strongly contrasted by trademark neon green underfoot, further foregrounding that section if it wasn’t already a standout detail.
