Jordan Brand has a long history of creating player-exclusive colorways of their iconic shoes. This week, the Air Jordan 4 “First Class” surfaced, given exclusively to WNBA players.

Air Jordan PE sneakers are the stuff of sneaker legend. Some of their most iconic colorways originated as special makeups, given to singular players or teams to celebrate milestones or to wear on court. Player exclusives often find their way into the hands of the public through auctions or from samples somehow escaping the Nike campus, creating their own stories along the way. This week, Kelsey Amy, a senior designer at Jordan and the mind behind releases like Zion’s “Voodoo” AJ1 Low and Rui Hachimura’s AJ8, shared a special look at her latest work – the “First Class” Air Jordan 4.

Crafted specially for players in the WNBA, this upscale Jordan 4 features a range of unique details, some of which have never been seen on the likes of a Jordan sneaker. The model features an upper in premium tumbled leather with a textured leather for the mudguards, tongues, and badges. The color comes in shades of green, ranging from a dark forest green to the “Oil” shade Nike has been fond of in recent months. Lace dubraes and Jumpman branding come in a metallic gold finish, and the Jumpman logos feature a diamond insert in place of the basketball. Each pair comes with a special gold hangtag made to look like a luggage tag, complete with elephant print, and nods to PDX, the Portland International Airport.

Unfortunately, the AJ4 “First Class” will likely never see a public release, as is the nature of player exclusive. Some pairs may eventually hit secondary markets, but will likely fetch an astonishing price tag, if not for their exclusive nature, then for the diamond and gold details. Either way, you can stay tuned to JustFreshKicks for more sneaker news.
